Tamil Diaspora is conducting worldwide protest campaigns and hunger strikes urging the international community to intervene and stop the war in Sri Lanka. They fault with international community for being silent on the war, it is no different to supporting, they say. As part of worldwide protest campaign Krishna Ambalavanar, LTTE’s propaganda unit head for Switzerland went on hunger strike from today.

He staged the hunger strike today at 10.45 AM in Hirschengraben, Bern, near Ministry of Foreign Affairs on five demands. He will go on without food or water until his demands are met. He urges the Government of Switzerland to interfere and stop the genocidal war in Sri Lanka immediately, his four other demands are,  to ensure urgent humanitarian needs of the Vanni people are met,  to take Sri Lanka to UN Security Council, a referendum among Eelam Tamils to decide on separation or not monitored by UN, in failing of all these international community inclusive of Switzerland to recognize Tamil self determination.

A large crowd, from many parts of Switzerland thronged the venue to show their solidarity with Ambalavanar.
