A Tamil youth has determined to fast unto action again in Sydney. In the last 90 days alone, over 7000 civilians have been killed and over 14000 have been injured. The Sri Lankan government continues to brutally bomb civilian populated areas, using chemical weapons, cluster bombs and white phosphorus; they have banned access of any food, medicine and vital services, which is violation of humanitarian laws.
Frustrated and disheartened by the lack of response from the Australian government, a Tamil youth has once again embarked on a hunger strike, where he will fast unto action. He commenced today (3/05/09) at 12 noon at Parramatta Church Street Mall, determined to continue until the government of Australia acts constructively. He has put forward four demands to the Australian government: put increased pressure on the Sri Lankan government to enter immediate and permanent ceasefire with the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam; immediately allow for food, medicine and aid to enter the conflict zone; allow medical services, independent reporters and other vital services to enter the conflict zone; allow for the Tamil people, those in the conflict zone and those detained in concentration camps in government held areas to decide independently where they wish to live.
