Continuous protest outside Kirribilli House, Sydney; today at 6 PM

The Australian Tamil Community continue their protest with great desperation and urgent plea to encourage the Australian government to adhere to promises made and call for an immediate ceasefire.

Over 600 Tamils gathered before Kevin Rudd’s residence in Kirribili Monday at 6pm. Emotions arose as people chanted ‘Australia Save the Tamils,’ ‘Prime Minister, call Immediate Ceasefire,’ and ‘Sri Lanka Stop Genocide’ out of frustration at the silence of the Mr. Kevin Rudd.

The Government of Sri Lanka has rejected LTTE’s call for a unilateral ceasefire, following appeals from The Whitehouse, G8 Nations, The United Nations, EU and other humanitarian organizations.

As the humanitarian crisis reaches its peak in war torn Sri Lanka, the government continues its carnage on civilians by air, sea and land. The Tamil Diaspora has received credible information from the Tamils Rehabilitation Organization, the only NGO in the safe zone area, that the Sri Lankan Government Forces are preparing for a final onslaught on the remaining 160 000 civilians encircled within a dense area of 12 square km.
