Sri Lankan Military uses Chemical Weapons - ATEL

E-mail Print PDF

Australian Tamils, many of whom have relatives caught up in the conflict zone, are outraged by the news of the use of chemical weapons by Sri Lankan military.  The Australian Tamil community has received reports and visual evidence from local sources in the conflict zone which strongly indicates the use of chemical weapons by the Sri Lankan regime.

Given the track record of atrocities by the Rajapakse Government, the possession and use of chemical weapons by this genocidal regime CANNOT be ignored.

There are more than 250,000 Tamil civilians including thousands of children in the “safe zone”.

The Sri Lankan military have surrounded and are directing their entire firepower into this region under the pretext of fighting the LTTE, locals say. The Sri Lankan military has used banned cluster bombs, white phosphorous and starvation as weapons of war, in direct violation of International Law. This year alone, over 3500 Tamil civilians have been killed and over 12000 casualties resulted due to the Sri Lankan State military onslaught against the Tamils.
