India's envoy to SL appointed as Deputy National Security Adviser

Alok Prasad, India’s envoy to Sri Lanka and a senior Indian Foreign Service officer, has been appointed as the Deputy National Security Adviser.

Mr. Prasad will hold the office for two years or until further orders, according to the decision of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.

Prior to his posting in Colombo, the 1974-batch officer has served in various key positions including as India’s High Commissioner in Singapore and Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of India, Washington, from 2000 to 2004.

He was formerly the Joint Secretary for Americas Division for five years in the Ministry of External Affairs here during which he played a key role in expanding bilateral relations between India and the U.S. (PTI)
